Seven Years of Freelance Writing

I remember this day (January 13th) every year - it was on this day, seven years back - in 2003, my first article was published in The Hindu's Metro Plus (Thiruvananthapuram edition) as the main story. Since then, I have written for 66 publications and will touch 67th mark in February 2010. In 2009, I devoted more time for my other interests. In writing, the long-awaited Chicken Soup for the Indian Teenage Soul was published. The anthology has one of my stories - "Grade's Don't Define You." I also sold another personal story to Chicken Soup for the Indian Woman's Soul. I worked on multiple corporate and web content writing projects apart from my regular writing assignments. And more than before, I rejected several of the offered assignments either because they wanted to work for very low rates or the topics weren't of interest to me. Website and Blog Popularity

My website ( http://www.resmijaimon.com/ ) has finally touched 4000 visitors mark today! Amazingly, the blog on Volvo Ocean Race Cochin Stopover ( http://kochi-volvo.blogspot.com/ ) is also gaining popularity – atleast it so, seems to me! Yesterday, I got the highest number of visitors – around 125. And the total has reached 919. I started posting regular posts less than a month back and the blog has 50 posts.

Information Technology (i.t) magazine goes online

Information Technology (i.t) magazine (EFY) has launched the beta version. Now, you can read the articles I write for Information Technology magazine online too! Since it is in the beta version, you won't find all my stories online. But, I hope the list will be complete soon. I first wrote for EFY's BenefIT in June 2005 and had three stories published the same year, before I moved out. I started writing for EFY again, this time my articles were for Information Technology (i.t) in November 2007 and for BenefIT from March 2008. The story talks about opting for weekend travel - why you should go for a weekend holiday, the travel mode, determining the kind of places you may want to visit, how to make use of the Internet to book tickets and hotels as well as tips on must-dos while you plan a weekend holiday.

Published in Live IT - IT magazine for the contemporary woman

After a long wait, Delhi Press launched 'Live IT,' an IT magazine for the contemporary woman in October 2008. I have worked on a series of stories for Live IT. Two of my articles have appeared in the second issue of Live IT - ie; November 2008. One is a feature - "10 rules to make e-mail communication effective" (Page 80-82) and a tech-tip article - "Search Files Using File Extensions" (Page 66). Unfortunately, for the tech-tip, Live IT doesn't allow author byline!

Kochi, the first stopover in Asia - volvo Ocean Race

Kochi, happens to be not just India's, but Asia's first stopver destination for Volvo Ocean Race. My husband and I visited the race village construction site at Willingdon Island, Kochi on October 12, 2008. The work is in progress and getting ready to welcome the team and a large number of tourists, estimated to arrive at Kochi during the event from December 3-13, 2008.
