Travelogues and Destination Features

Travelling is a passion I tightly hold on since my childhood and wish to, in the years to come. As a kid, I travelled with my parents and brother and post-marriage, I go on a holiday with my husband and often my parents or brother also accompanies us in the trip. In the recent years, I have had the opportunity to visit “offbeat places” in leading tourist destinations – and most of these have been in Nilgiris (Ooty and around); Goa; Kodaikanal and Munnar. I have spent over 50 days in Kodaikanal (since 1996), over 20 days in Munnar (since 1997) and around 20 days in Ooty (since 1991). Occasionally, I also take solo trips to local places in Kochi. During such tours, I have come across interesting people and stories. I dig out stories common men generally avoid or overlook. I am looking for selling some of these interesting travelogues and also features on destinations. I also have photos to accompany most of my trips. Editors interested in discussing travelogues or destination features, d...

Taking Stock - 2008

A week more to go, but less chance of seeing more stories in print or online, except for may be two. This could be the best time to take stock. In 2008, I was published in 11 new publications - in India and abroad and 51 stories were published (most of them in print though some of them have online versions too). Apart from those published this year, I have written 18 more articles, submitted to different magazines in India. The topics include travel, technology and lifestyle. Additional two articles along with a series of photos were submitted for a coffee table book, scheduled to be published in March 2009. Another three articles were not published this year , of which one was an exclusive interview with a business family (it's supposed to have given me a good exposure, if published.. for a magazine I haven't worked earlier); trade article for a U.S magazine (all of a sudden the editorial team changed and they had new ideas!) and a real estate article for a U.S magazine (the e...
