Fort Kochi , is known as a natural harbor and place of historical importance. A stroll along the beach and watching the fishermen working with the Chinese fishing net as well as the ships entering the Kochi from the Arabian Sea is a sight to behold. Chinese fishing net - The Chinese fishing net was erected by Chinese traders at the area between 1350 and 1450 AD. It is made of teak and bamboo poles. St. Francis Church - Vasco da Gama was buried in St. Francis Church at Fort Kochi in 1524. Later, his remains were removed and taken to Portugal. Santa Cruz Basilica - Originally built by the Portuguese in 1558, it was later demolished and in its place, a new building appeared in 1887. Vasco House - One of the oldest Portuguese houses in Fort Kochi, Vasco House is believed to have been the residence of Vasco D Gama. Vasco House, now functions as a home stay. 'Old Meets New' in Jetwings (January 2009)

Let my announcement for the first story published in 2009 be about the one titled "Old Meets New" in Jetwings (January 2009). Jetwings is the in-flight magazine of Jetairways. So, you are flying in Jetwings, you have a chance to read my article (page 178 - 180)! The story concentrates on what's a Nalukettu and Ettukettu (the traditional designs of Kerala architecture) and its modern forms, which is widely popular, especially with the higher-income segment.
